Whose paper is this???

Do you get tired of having to ask students, “Whose paper is this?” It seems to happen to me each and every time I have students turn in their papers into my bins. This year, I thought I would try to remedy this problem by placing a reminder in the bin, and guess what? It has worked!  I have yet to have to ask whose paper it is.

So how does it work?  I printed out my reminder and laminated it. I placed it in the bin. (I made a blue set and a green set since our fifth grade classes are departmentalized. I distinguish them by assigning my morning group the color green, and my afternoon class the color blue.)  I explained to the students that they need to place their work UNDER the laminated reminder.  That’s it! When they go to lift the laminated reminder, those who forgot their name, write it there on the spot. No more ghostly papers

Enjoy!
