FREE Resources for Your Classroom and Students: Magazines and Toothbrushes

I have always been one to look for great or FREE deals, which I guess fits naturally with being a teacher. We always seem to be so resourceful when it comes to accumulating materials that will enhance our students’ learning, while dealing with budget cuts and, well, our salaries.

In this post, I am introducing three nice offers that are FREE, and are very nice resources for your classrooms.

First off, I want to introduce you to one of my favorite FREE offers for teachers of Kindergarten and 1st grade students. It is Colgate’s Bright Smiles,Bright Futures program. This FREEBIE comes to you in February, just in time for National Dental Health Month, but I highly recommend you sign up now. This does tend to fill up, and you do not want to miss out. It brings a “big” book about dental hygiene, the same book but in a small version for each student, a DVD, and small toothbrush (with a sample toothpaste) for each student.

The next two offers are for magazines. There is just something about magazines that kids love. It feels different than a book in their hand, and the text features capture their attention, making them a novelty.

Scholastic Magazines gives teachers the opportunity to request FREE samples of their different magazines. They have a range from preK to grade 12, and even magazines in Spanish.  You will need to fill out a form and provide your school name and address.

LegoMagazine is for kids ages 6-12.  You will have to provide a name of your child, age, email and address.  I use to sign my son up, and then take them to my classroom when he was done with them. Many kids naturally love Lego, and part of the magazine is written as a comic, so it was a hit.

Hurry on over a sign up!

If you know of any other offers, please let me know in the comment section. I would love to add it to the list.

Your Thrifty Co-Teacher,

~Cristy
