A Penny Saved is a Penny Earned

They say, “A penny saved is a penny earned.”  No truer words have ever been spoken, especially on a teacher’s salary.  Thankfully, there are many organizations out there that are willing to help a teacher out, so they provide us with discounts on their products or services.

Living and working in Florida, I usually go to the Florida Department of Education link first to find great deals in my community.  That link is http://www.fldoe.org/justforteachers/discounts.asp.  It provides a list of attractions, lodging, retail, sports venues and other places that provide discounts for teachers, as well as, FREEBIES! You can get discounts at places like Barnes and Noble, Michael’s, JoAnn Fabrics and Ann Taylor Loft (got to look sharp for those parent-teacher conferences). Teachers can also get FREE admission to places like the Kennedy Space Center, Legoland and SeaWorld in Orlando!!! Great vacation destinations for our long awaited and much deserved summer break.

However, reading over the list on the FDLOE site, I noticed that some of the offers I take advantage of were not listed.  I researched further and found another wonderful site that provided links to the missing resources. You can find this list at http://www.giftcardgranny.com/blog/the-complete-list-of-66-teacher-discounts .

When you have a moment, take a peek!

Now stay tuned, because I will soon be posting sites you can refer to in order to find FREE events in your community.  After all, we want to enjoy fun-filled activities throughout the summer without breaking the bank. Let ALL your friends know, teachers or not, about the upcoming post because this will be information useful for ALL! You won’t want to miss it.

Your Thrifty Co-Teacher,
~Cristy
